Advise on size

There are plenty of sizes available so advise your client that they should consider not just the immediate positioning of their banner but also possible future uses. For example you might have much more room at this week’s trade show than at a future conference. Advise on design
Often clients see a product like a large trade banner and think they can load it with all sorts of information. Help them see that banners work best with a short, concise message. Use contrasting colours that stand out from each other and from the surroundings. Large, striking images can be extremely effective on a banner, but small images will do nothing to help get your message across. People will rarely stop to look at a banner so the message must be big, striking and immediate.
Advise on location
Help clients choose a location where their trade banner is sure to get noticed. The colours of the banner must sit out from its surroundings to give the banner – and your design – the best chance of grabbing attention. Make sure clients think about all the areas from where their banner is seen. It might look great when they hang it and stand back. But think about where the target market will be. They’ll probably be much further away so check that nothing like billboards or even buildings obscure the view from the most heavily populated viewing points.
